Traffic citations issued by an officer of the Jamestown Police will indicate whether you have the option to pay it by mail or if you are required to appear in court at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal located at 670 New London Avenue, Cranston, RI.

All traffic violations within the Town of Jamestown (excluding parking violations) are adjudicated by the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal. Traffic violations may be paid in person or by mail at: 670 New London Avenue, Cranston, RI. Payments are also accepted online with a credit/debit card at: http://www.courts.ri.gov/OnlinePayments. Instructions on how / where to pay a traffic ticket are explained on the back of the ticket.

If, due to the nature of the offense or your driving history, you are required to appear in court your ticket will indicate what your required court date is. If you fail to appear at your required court appearance it will be considered in "Default", and the court will automatically find you guilty. The Judge will impose a penalty which may be a fine and/or a suspension of your driver's license.

If you cannot appear in court on the required date you must file a motion with the Court for a continuance. The Jamestown Police will not change your court date unless a motion for continuance is granted by the Court.
