The Town Clerk serves as the secretary of the municipal corporation and is the keeper of the entire recorded history of the community and its people. The duties and responsibilities of this position are defined by the Rhode Island General Laws, Rhode Island Department of Health (Division of Vital Statistics), the State Constitution, the Town Charter and local ordinances. The Town Clerk is also an ex officio member of the Board of Canvassers. The Department of the Town Clerk consists the following divisions:

Voter Registration for the General Election

        The last day to register vote to be eligible to vote in the General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 is Sunday, October 9, 2016. The Town Clerk's Office located at 93 Narragansett Avenue will be open to register new voters on Sunday, October 9th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  A valid government-issued picture ID is required to register to vote. To register to vote online go to: and click on "New Online Voter Registration" on the right hand side of the webpage and complete the online registration as directed. The deadline to request an Absentee Ballot for the November 8, 2016 General Election is Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.

        Jamestown Polling locations are: District 1 - Jamestown Recreation Center and District 2 - Lawn Avenue School. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. For more information call the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours at 423-9804 or access the Board of Canvassers webpage.
